Questions about the challenges

What is The Gauntlet?

The Gauntlet is MyProGrammar’s hardest grammar test. It targets the structures that trip up even confident, advanced speakers — the mandative and “were” subjunctives, negative-adverbial and conditional inversion, mixed conditionals, who/whom, dangling modifiers, parallelism and more. Most people do not ace it on the first try.

Why is it so much harder than the Level Test?

The Level Test measures your CEFR level across all abilities, so most questions are reachable. The Gauntlet deliberately picks only the trickiest, most-confused points of English grammar, with tight per-question timers and plausible distractors, so a high score really means something.

Do I need an account?

No. Every challenge is free and works without signing up. Your streaks and personal bests are saved privately in your own browser.

How do the revision suggestions work?

Every question is tagged to a MyProGrammar topic. When you finish, we show exactly which topics your mistakes came from, with direct links so you can revise and come back stronger.

Prefer a measured assessment first? Take the English Level Test to find your CEFR level, then come back and conquer The Gauntlet.
